The Rutgers Board of Governors unanimously approved the hiring of Greg Schiano as football head coach on Tuesday morning. The public meeting was held at 10 a.m. at Winants Hall on campus.
Contract details include $4 million per year base salary that includes performance bonuses tied to bowl appearances, season ticket levels, retention levels, APR ratings and other academic standards, as well $7.7 million for his assistant coaches and support staff salaries, with a built-in minimum of 3% increase year over year. The facilities portion of the contract includes the clause that 50% of the funds needed must be privately raised before Rutgers were to move forward.
