With each passing season, Gary Waters' on-court achievements with the Rutgers men's basketball program become more and more remarkable.
No, Waters never took Rutgers to the NCAA Tournament. That hasn't happened since 1991.
But he did finish with a winning record (79-75) over five seasons, highlighted by a run to the 2004 NIT final and years where Rutgers built one of the best home-court advantages in the nation.
Waters, 65, retired from coaching Tuesday after spending the last 11 seasons at Cleveland State, which he led to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
