Rutgers only plays three non-conference games each fall, but they have a major impact on the Scarlet Knights.

The out-of-league games set a the table for the Big Ten season. They can also determine whether or not Rutgers has a shot at a bowl game or, down the road it hopes, what its resume will look like as it competes for postseason destination. It's the same for the rest of the conference, and all of college football.

We looked at the toughest 2018 non-conference game for each Big Ten team earlier this year.
