The news that Emily Mills had been waiting for came in a phone call from Rutgers women's golf coach Kari Williams, who notified the Scarlet Knights' top golfer the Big Ten was rewarding her with a prestigious scholarship.
"I was very grateful,'' Mills said of being deemed the female recipient of the Wayne Duke Postgraduate Scholarship, an award presented annually by the conference to senior athletes pursuing a postgraduate degree for achievements in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and leadership.
"I was actually taking a nap when she called me. I honestly didn't think I was going to get it.
