Former Rutgers offensive coordinator Jerry Kill lands new job in college athletics

Jerry Kill has retired from coaching, but not from college sports.

The former Rutgers offensive coordinator was named a university ambassador and special assistant to the chancellor at Southern Illinois-Carbondale on Tuesday. Kill, who was the Salukis' head football coach from 2001-07, will also assist in athletics fundraising, according to a release. Kill is scheduled to begin work in mid-March.

"SIU is a special place, and I've always valued the warmth and support of the Southern Illinois community," Kill said in a release. "I'm excited to contribute to the university's future in any way possible.
