A former Rutgers football defensive back who had the distinction of being the first player in program history to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week has died.
Johnathan Aiken, who played at Rutgers from 2011 through 2014, was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Fort Lauderdale, according to a report on Local10.com in Florida.
Aiken reportedly lost control of his Toyota, hitting an overhead light pole, guardrail and palm tree before his car came to rest in the grassy shoulder, Florida Highway Patrol Lt.
