A day after bowing out of the state tournament, the Paterson Eastside High School boys basketball team also has withdrawn from the Passaic County tournament championship game, the school district announced Thursday.
Eastside had been slated to face city rival Paterson Kennedy in the final Saturday.
The decision to effectively end the team's 2016-17 season comes less than three weeks after an NJ Advance Media report uncovered the murky living and guardianship situation in the boys program.
"As previously reported, the District is conducting an internal investigation led by former Justice John Wallace, who has also been retained as a Monitor of all district athletic programs and will be making appropriate recommendations regarding policy, procedures and personnel actions," Paterson district spokeswoman Terry Corallo said in a statement.
