Rutgers wrestling may be about to go head-to-head with a few of its Big Ten rivals for a heralded transfer.
Drexel rising sophomore hammer Austin DeSanto on Monday, and there is mutual interest between the 2017 Pennsylvania AAA state champion and the Scarlet Knights, a person with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media. Rutgers is just one of many programs pursuing DeSanto, though.
DeSanto's high school coach at Exeter High, Jon Rugg, told PennLive that Arizona State, Iowa, Penn State, Nebraska and Virginia Tech have already expressed interest. Rugg told the website DeSanto's family told him, "Austin is looking for a tougher room essentially, somewhere to be challenged on a daily basis.
