PISCATAWAY — Derrick Nelson was asked earlier this month how he would define a successful spring camp.
"Me still starting at center,'' the Rutgers redshirt sophomore said.
With just three practices and Friday's Scarlet-White scrimmage remaining in spring camp, Nelson's goal remains intact. The 6-3, 290-pounder from Capitol Heights, Md., drew the start for the Scarlet Knights in their second intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, and appeared to take another step toward cementing his standing as the team's center.
"I feel like I did really well,'' Nelson said. "I'm just working day-by-day. We'll see where we're at by the end of spring.
