Rutgers held its first spring practice under new coach Chris Ash on Thursday. Reporters were able to watch the first hour of the session and then Ash held a post-practice press conference. Here are some of the key developments from the day:

Defensive tackle Darius Hamilton returned to practice after missing almost all of last season with a knee injury. Hamilton wore a green non-contact jersey, but went through position drills with the defensive linemen.
Ash is letting Hamilton, a fifth-year senior, determine his practice involvement.
"Darius is a mature individual," Ash said.
