Dacoven Bailey dismissed from Rutgers football team after December arrest for sexual assault

A Rutgers University sophomore who played wide receiver for the Scarlet Knights football team has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Texas.

A Rutgers athletics spokesman confirmed to NJ Advance Media that Dacoven Bailey, who played in nine games last fall, was kicked off the team and dismissed from the university in January.

Rutgers football coach Chris Ash wasn't available for comment Saturday morning.

The news was first reported by Texas television station KXII. The report said Bailey is one of four men accused of raping a 15-year old girl in his hometown of Pilot Point, Texas, on July 2, 2017.
