Could injured Rutgers WR Ahmir Mitchell play in Big Ten opener? Chris Ash gives best case, worst case

PISCATAWAY -- Rutgers opens Big Ten play in 24 weeks, and coach Chris Ash isn't ready to rule out Ahmir Mitchell for the Sept. 23 road game at Nebraska.

The highly regarded redshirt freshman wide receiver tore his ACL last Saturday in a non-contact drill.

"We'll get surgery for Ahmir relatively quickly," Ash said after Thursday's seventh spring practice. "Best-case scenario probably is that we get him back sometime before Big Ten play starts or relatively around that time. Worst-case scenario is out that he will be out for the year.
