It was an extremely busy weekend for Rutgers athletics, but I didn’t want to let some significant news regarding the men’s cross country team get missed. Senior Conor Murphy accomplished a feat that no Rutgers runner had done in almost three decades at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional 10K race.
Murphy finished in 17th place out of 169 runners with a time of 31:48 in the 10K race, 43 seconds off the first place finisher, Casey Comber Jr. from Villanova. Murphy ran a pace of 5:08 per mile. He was named an All-Regional selection for his effort, the first Rutgers runner to achieve that honor in almost three decades.
