The Rutgers football program generated just over $1 million through other revenue sources, including $464,933 in equipment and nutritional products. Equally noteworthy is the fact that the Rutgers football program didn’t receive any revenue from the $17 million Rutgers athletics received from the university’s general fund or the $11 million drawn from student fees.
While Rutgers spent $25.1 million on its football program in 2015-16, the program raked in $28.6 million in revenue. That $3,482,884 profit represented a decrease from the $8 million in profit generated by Rutgers football in its inaugural Big Ten campaign.
