Rutgers coach Chris Ash and Maryland coach D.J. Durkin both have their teams hoping for bowl berths despite issues at quarterback.
Rutgers (3-5) is 2-1 without much of a passing attack since switching to Gio Rescigno. Maryland (4-4) is playing third-stringer Max Bortenschlager after two season-ending injuries.
Speedy playmakers Janarion Grant and Raheem Blackshear of Rutgers, and D.J. Moore and Ty Johnson of Maryland could be the difference-makers.
"They're fast. That's usually what makes a good skill (player)," Ash said of Maryland. "They've got great change of direction, both at running back and at wide receiver.
