PISCATAWAY – Chris Ash is about to find out what it’s like to try to defend New Jersey against talent raids like the ones his former bosses used to orchestrate.
Ash, the new Rutgers football coach, wasted no time at his introductory news conference emphasizing the importance of keeping New Jersey’s best high school talent at home — echoing the words of many of his predecessors — during his opening statement.
“We don’t need New Jersey kids and players going to other programs,” Ash said. “We need to keep them here at home at Rutgers and be the best that we can be here.
