Chris Ash will be introduced as Rutgers football coach Monday, but he isn’t done coaching at Ohio State, apparently.
Ash will serve as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator through its likely New Year’s Day bowl game, according to a report from Scout.com and confirmed by other Ohio State media outlets.
In other words, for Ash’s first three weeks on the job, including the upcoming big recruiting weekend before a dead period, he will be splitting his responsibilities.
The move is not uncommon at this time of year as some assistant coaches on the way up to head jobs see it as honoring their contracts and displaying a final act of loyalty to their former employer.
