Chris Christie isn't the only New Jersey governor who has a connection to Patrick Hobbs, the new athletic director of Rutgers University.
Hobbs also had a small role in the scandal featuring former Gov. Jon Corzine and union leader Carla Katz about a decade ago.
In the early 2000s, Katz — Corzine's former girlfriend — was awarded a scholarship to Seton Hall University Law School not long after Corzine, then a U.S. senator, donated $1 million to school.
Hobbs was then the law school's dean.
He was even mentioned in a series of emails between Corzine and Katz — the former presidential of a local Communication Workers of Association chapter — at the time.
