There are 22 intercollegiate sports at Rutgers, but when it comes to the athletic department’s drug and alcohol policy, one of them gets special treatment.
If you play football and you violate the drug policy three times, the penalty is a three-game suspension.
If you play any other sport and you’re a three-time offender, the penalty is a minimum suspension of one full calendar year.
