'Call me Hybrid': Why Ross Douglas is suddenly very valuable to Rutgers

PISCATAWAY -- Ross Douglas wasn't misquoting the famous opening line of Moby Dick.

Ross Douglas (21) is becoming one of the most important players on Rutgers defense without being a starter.

He was answering the simplest of all football questions: What position do you play?

"Call me Hybrid," Douglas said.

The former Michigan running back who transferred to Rutgers to play cornerback spent spring camp practicing at a cross between outside linebacker, safety and slot defensive back.
