In every year since 2014, a Rutgers football coach has addressed the media towards the end of training camp and announced a starting quarterback.
In 2014, Gary Nova won the job over Chris Laviano and Mike Bimonte. Laviano won it the following year over Hayden Rettig. Laviano beat out Rettig and Gio Rescigno in 2016, and Kyle Bolin edged Rescigno and Johnathan Lewis last summer.
On Friday, Rutgers coach Chris Ash put an end to the latest quarterback competition, tapping Artur Sitkowski as his starting QB for the 2018 campaign.
The highly touted freshman from Old Bridge beat out Rescigno and Lewis in a six-month competition.
