Before she was setting records and scripting one of the most storied careers in the Rutgers women's track and field program's history, Gabrielle Farquharson was a cheerleader, she played volleyball, and she was an avid dancer in hip hop and jazz expressions.
"Track was always my emphasis, even when I was 8, when I first started,'' she said. "But I also did cheerleading my entire life, I played volleyball early on in high school and I always participated in the dance program at my high school.''
Unlike many athletes who opt to specialize on one sport, Farquharson was glad to be exposed to as many sports and activities as possible while growing up in Williamstown.
