Rutgers made a big splash Monday morning when NJ Advance Media first reported Nunzio Campanile, one of New Jersey's top high school football coaches, will be leaving BC and joining head coach Chris Ash's staff. He is expected to be the Scarlet Knights' running backs coach.
Here are six reasons why Campanile's hiring makes for Rutgers:
Jersey guy: Some have complained Ash's staff is lacking in local and regional ties. Well, Campanile is as Jersey as it gets. Campanile, 41 in February, is a Garden State native who graduated from Paramus Catholic and Montclair State and has coached at Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco Prep.
