For most teams in Rutgers' position -- a 1-4 record plus several serious injuries to star players midway through the season -- it is about that time to start a youth movement in hopes of jumpstarting the future.
It's a nice thought.
There's only one problem: A 16-game Big Ten losing streak.
Rutgers should have two objectives during the second half of the season: Player development and winning a conference game -- but those sometimes run contradictory to each other.
Failure to win a Big Ten game for a second straight season will be a huge anti-recruiting tool used by rivals -- two decommitments so far -- and could further hurt perception with fans.
