The trend of recruits enrolling early in college is relatively new, something that's impacted college football programs throughout this decade.
Rutgers has benefited from it, luring a host of players who graduated high school by January of their senior years and developing them for nine months before their freshmen campaigns.

Last February, Rutgers signed 22 players in its 2018 recruiting class, including one graduate transfer, one junior-college transfer and two players who spent time in prep school after high school.
Of the 10 early-enrolled recruits, six — DB Kassawn Abraham, QB Jalen Chatman, TE Jalen Jordan, OL Raiqwon O'Neal, RB Isaih Pacheco and QB Artur Sitkowski — were recently graduated high school players.
