3 key reasons why Rutgers might go bowling in 2018

Rutgers needs six wins (in all likelihood) to qualify for a bowl game in 2018.

ESPN thinks there's a good chance the Scarlet Knights could rack up three of them before the end of September, so long as they can take care of business.

Rutgers' trio of non-conference games this fall - the home opener against Texas State, a road trip to Kansas and a home matchup against Buffalo - is the nation's fourth-easiest non-conference schedule, according to national writer Chris Low.

From the ESPN analysis:

After facing Washington to open the season a year ago, Rutgers replaces the Huskies on its non-conference schedule in 2018 with a trip to Kansas, which ranks exactly one spot ahead of the Scarlet Knights on our list of the easiest Power 5 non-conference schedules.
