The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Zach Werenski on the injured reserve, retroactively to February 4, with a lower-body injury. Werenski was injured in the third period of the Blue Jackets victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.
Werenski has been a workhorse for the Jackets this year, ranking second in ice-time and playing across all strengths. However, his effectiveness has been questionable. Werenski has posted a negative Corsi rating despite 57.7% of his starts in the neutral zone. He’s posted one goal and three assists on the season, with two of those apples coming with the man-advantage.
