You Should Be Rooting For Brewers’ 31-Year-Old Rookie Pitcher Junior Guerra (3-0) Tonight

Some players’ stories just transcend the laundry. That is to say, I’m not a Brewers’ fan, but I’ll be rooting for 31-year-old Milwaukee rookie Junior Guerra tonight vs. the Braves.

Atlanta is Guerra’s old team, which brought him up through its minor league system from 2003-2006, the first three years as a catcher. But he hit only .210, and decided to make the switch to pitcher. That didn’t work out so hot either.

He bounced through independent league baseball in the U.S. and teams in his native Venezuela until 2015, when the White Sox signed him to a minor league deal after he went 4-2 with a 2.
