The fifth-ranked Xavier Musketeers handed top-ranked Villanova their fourth loss of the season, ending the Wildcats’ seven-game win streak Wednesday night, 90-83. This was a huge answer to Xavier’s loss to ‘Nova earlier this season, when they got beat by 31 points on New Year’s Eve.
Eight players got into the game for Xavier, but on the strength of five players scoring double digits, the Musketeers beat a top-five team for the first time since 2004. This also happens to be Xavier’s first win over Villanova since joining the Big East.
