Winnipeg Jets place Patrick Laine on injured reserve

The Winnipeg Jets placed forward Patrick Laine on injured reserve Friday. Laine has been out of action for the past three games due to an upper-body injury. He has missed the past three games for the Jets since scoring the game-winning goal in overtime in the season opener. While the Jets haven’t given any details about the injury, state secrets, and all, Laine is not expected to be out of the lineup long-term. The team had nothing to lose by placing Laine on IR as he wasn’t going to play this weekend, which means he would be eligible to activate off IR and play Tuesday versus the Oilers.
