It’s been a season to forget for UCF and return man Hayden Jones didn’t help matters against UConn on Saturday.
Jones fielded a kickoff from the end zone in the first quarter and momentarily thought about taking it out. He took a step forward, but thought better of it and stepped back to take a knee.
The only problem was when he stepped forward he crossed the plane, so when he returned to the end zone to take a knee it was not a touchback, but a safety.
A Western Illinois player made the same mistake last season, so at least Jones has company.
