Former UAB linebacker Derek Slaughter got the last laugh on school president Ray Watts.
After watching Watts shut down the football program despite it reportedly turning a profit, Slaughter graduated in style on Saturday by wearing his Blazers helmet to the ceremony and snubbing Watts on stage when the president extended his hand for a shake.
The gestures won’t bring UAB football back, but you can tell it was a cathartic moment for the crowd on hand.
