Baseball isn’t much like volleyball, but when it is, you get the magic that Arizona SS Kevin Newman and OF Jared Oliva created on Friday.
In the sixth inning against UCLA, Newman was chasing a fly ball down the left field foul line that bounced off his head. Oliva made the incredible heads-up play (after Newman’s literal heads-up play fell short), diving and catching the ball off the ricochet.
Unfortunately the Wildcats fell, 1-0.
