Vin Scully and Brent Musburger are just two names in the wave of monumental sports broadcasters to retire during 2016-17. Now, we can add Bob Costas’s name to the list as well.
Costas has been the juggernaut of Olympics coverage for NBC Sports for 12 renditions of the Games. But the celebrated television host announced his legendary run is over, as he decided to step down from his chair and is letting Mike Tirico take over.
Costas has been very forthcoming with details of the relinquishment of his Olympic broadcasting duties.
“It’s better to leave before they drop hints,” Costas told Tirico on a conference call according to USA Today.
