Actually, it’s technically Russian knight fighting, seeing as it’s run by M-1 Global World, a St. Petersburg-based MMA promoter that clearly doesn’t see anything wrong with equipping two combatants with medieval armor and broadswords (or putting the words “global” and “world” next to each other).
Don’t be fooled — this is not some choreographed show performed for a bunch of nine-year-olds’ birthday parties. These guys are legitimate mixed martial artists who actively try to submit one another use a blunt-edge metal stick, a wooden shield and the occasional flurry of elbows and knees.
