If I had ten dollars for every time Cam Newton failed to wear a tie to a Panthers game, I could buy Westworld. So it was a little odd when Ron Rivera benched his starting quarterback (for one play) on Sunday when they met the Seahawks for “a dress code violation.”
Well, according to two sources (so far), Newton’s one-play suspension had nothing to do with the dress code. Barstool Sports and Terez Owens have written that Newton got disciplined by Ron Rivera because he was at a strip club past curfew. Barstool Sports:
I have it on good authority from someone who has steered me right before that this has nothing to do with a dress code.
