Rumblings of a new Super League have come to fruition as 12 of Europe’s leading football clubs announced the formation of a new mid-week competition. Rob Harris tweeted details of the full release.
AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Athletico de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF, and Tottenham Hotspur were all announced as the founding clubs. The release noted that the Super League was expecting three more teams to join ahead of the inaugural season. There are not yet any teams from Germany or France in the newly formed Super League.
