Smith is one of the top tight ends on the market, and agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN that he has agreed to a deal with the Patriots. The deal is reportedly for $50M over four years and includes $31.25M guaranteed. Even though the deal is agreed to, Smith won’t be able to officially sign with the Pats until March 17th at 4 p.m. ET.
He represents a huge upgrade at the tight end position for the Patriots. Ryan Izzo finished with the most catches at tight end for the Patriots last season, but he still managed just 13 catches.
