Well, first we should mention that the latest Comedy Central Celebrity Roast was for Rob Lowe — not Ann Coulter. But when the roasters found out that Coulter would also be on the dais, well, you can guess what happened.
The comedians shifted their guns away from Lowe, and Coulter became the main target. This is probably unprecedented in the history of TV roasts, which date back to the Friar’s Club in New York in the early 1970s, then shifting to Dean Martin’s variety show on NBC in 1973. They did about 54 of those, ending in 1984.
