Bloomberg TV will fact-check tonight’s Presidential Debate in real time, so interested parties can all get a running tally on how many mistruths, blunders and outright lies the candidates utter on stage (see graphic below). The New York Times will do the same on its web site — and that’s about it. None of the major networks have indicated that they will do any fact checking, so when Trump claims that he had 28 confirmed kills in the Falklands War, most of the world will not know he’s making it up.
Lester Holt of CNN, the debate moderator, has said however that he “will not sit there like a potted plant.
