Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza was a goalkeeper for Flamengo in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A – Brazil’s premier professional soccer league – when he kidnapped, tortured, murdered and dismembered Eliza Samudio.
Per CNN, Souza, his lover and his ex-wife were among nine people charged with torturing and murdering Samudio, who had been trying to prove he had fathered her son. Also part of the gang was Souza’s 17-year-old cousin, who confessed the horrific details of Samudio’s gruesome murder to police investigators back in 2010.
Those details included her mutilation and dismemberment, after which parts of her body were reportedly fed to dogs.
