Earlier today Andres Cantor made his U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team debut when he called the USA-Sweden Olympic quarterfinal game for Telemundo, which means the revered broadcaster was witness to one of the biggest uspets in recent women’s soccer history. Sweden prevailed 4-3 on penalty kicks (1-1), knocking the U.S. from its quest for back-to-back World Cup/Olympic gold medals. It was the first time in four Olympics that the U.S. women did not reach the gold medal game.
While admitting that the U.S did not play especially well, Cantor said via Twitter that there was another big factor in the loss:
Not an excuse, but we just witnessed a scandalous refereeing job in #USAvSWE.
