Shohei Ohtani soaked a pitch in the first inning against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, putting his start on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays in jeopardy. Los Angeles Angels skipper Joe Maddon noted that it’s too early to tell whether Ohtani’s start will be skipped, but more will be known in the morning.

Ohtani’s season has gone to plan, with him working full-time in the designated hitter role and holding down a spot in the starting rotation, as well. Ohtani is dealing on the bump, striking out 23 through 13.2 innings pitched, allowing only six hits, although batters have collected 13 walks off Ohtani.
