Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic MLB reports that Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani will miss his scheduled start on Sunday against the Blue Jays. Ohtani is dealing with a blister on his pitching hand, and the Angels are not willing to send him back out onto the mound until it’s fully healed.
It’s believed that the decision to skip Ohtani is unrelated to the collision in his last start while trying to defend home plate from an incoming runner after throwing a wild pitch. In that start, Ohtani went 4 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run.
