California has always had a love/hate relationship with pot — it was the first state to legalize marijuana for medical use (1996), but is lagging behind in approving it for recreational use. Colorado, Washington, Alaska and Oregon have already beaten it there.
But I guess one could call it the unofficial state plant of The Golden State. In San Francisco, there are pot dispensaries everywhere, among them a couple right in the shadow of the Super Bowl City set up by SF and the NFL. Ostensibly for medical use, the Hilarity Weed is being sold to just about anyone who strolls in with anything resembling a doctor’s note.
