Democracy is messy, and sometimes you have to put aside the conveniences it affords some of us in order to prevent others from losing their most basic freedoms. That’s at the core of the airport protests going on around the country. Concerned citizens are going out of their way to show support for the men, women and children — many of whom call the United States home —
currently being detained by border enforcement after an executive order signed by President Trump banned them because of their country of origin. The legality of the move notwithstanding, it’s immoral and utterly ineffective (none of the seven targeted countries have been involved in a single act of terrorism on American soil).
