Safety John Johnson Agrees to Three-Year Deal With Browns

Johnson previously played for the Rams, and he has blossomed into one of the best safeties in the league. He graded out as the No. 5 safety last year out of 172 qualifiers per Pro Football Focus, and he will now be headed to Cleveland on a three-year deal. His contract is reportedly for $33.75M, including $24M guaranteed. That contract is enough to make him the eighth-highest paid safety in the league.

Johnson will be a huge addition for the Browns’ secondary next season. Defensive coordinator Joe Woods previously mentioned that he wanted to play more dime and three-safety coverages, and Johnson will allow him to do that.
