Stripling was initially scheduled to start Wednesday’s matinee vs. the Yankees, but he was ultimately scratched due to right forearm tightness. T.J. Zeuch will instead make his third appearance of the season. Zeuch has been effective through his first 7.1 innings, pitching to a 3.68 ERA, but his performance feels like a mirage. His advanced metrics suggest he’s due for some major regression. He’s averaged more walks per nine innings than strikeouts, and he’s also allowed an average of 2.45 home runs per nine innings. Add it all up, and his 7.51 FIP is significantly higher than his traditional ERA.
