The absolute failure on Rio’s part to deliver an Olympic games with any semblance of organization or cleanliness has been covered exhaustively. We know about Zika. We know about the dead bodies washing up on shore. We know about the, ahem, plumbing issue that’s been plaguing the waterways. We know that the socioeconomic structure of the city and the country is crumbling because police officers are literally welcoming people to Hell.
So we can’t have expected that the Olympic Village was going to be any great shakes.
Still, the details on the dire conditions in which the athletes will be expected to live are mortifying.
