A private plane reportedly owned by retired baseball superstar Roy Halladay went down in a fatal crash Tuesday in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tampa PD is holding a news conference to reveal details of the crash, and we'll be live streaming. Roy is an experienced pilot who lives in Florida. The FAA confirms to TMZ Sports ... the plane that crashed is an ICON A5 light sport aircraft, and says it went down 10 miles west of St. Petersburg.
40-year-old Halladay proudly purchased an ICON A5 just last month.
Roy was an 8-time All-Star pitcher for the Phillies and the Blue Jays, and a two-time Cy Young Award winner.
